I have been a little behind on computer work. I have a video almost ready for Sept, Oct and November. So bear with me! We currently lease a farm and about a month ago out of the blue I randomly came across a farm that I felt like would be good for us and made a crazy offer on it, and that week they called back and said We want to accept exactly what you offered! It was a crazy big awesome miracle for our family.. so its been a bit of a whirlwind here! This week I’m committed to getting caught up with the videos and getting them posted! Thanks for your patience!
We are also fully booked for the 2 day winter workshop and have gotten approval to go ahead and post a 2 day summer workshop! This one will be $600 per student (Can be split up into 3 payments of $200 each) and one of the days we will also be incorporating fresh flowers into the draping portfolio setups. Just sharing a little about fresh flower basics into the normal draping lessons. So I’m super excited about that. We are still finalizing the dates, so if you have dates you would like us to consider, just send us an email or text! WendyB@eventprotraining.com or text 615-967-1793. Again 2 complete portfolios will be designed. And remember all workshops have different portfolios, so if you have come to a previous workshop, you can come again!!!!
During all the last months craziness it just hit me the other day, that I had not posted what we did on the 3rd day of the fall workshop so I wanted to share it with you! Better late than never right!!!
3rd day of the Fall Draping Workshop
This day we went to a location that had a drop down ceiling because the tools you use on a drop down ceiling is different. So we went to Maury Hills Church in their student classroom and created a stunning setup!
We started with draping the walls in the white lightweight satin and the focal back wall with the satin dot plum fabric. I had a group working on the round chuppah setup and then a group starting on the ceiling. which the first thing we did is layout exactly what we wanted on the ceiling, on the floor.
The gold voile fabric had a nice airy feeling which worked great in contrast to the heavier fabric behind it.
The ceiling was tricky but each person had to learn the technique and put up a section.
If you only do draping by itself, its not as dramatic as when you add easy touches. So I showed them how use fresh salal leaves and silk hydrangeas in these oasis cages. And it was a beautiful tie back!
It was funny when we first started the setup, the plan was to use the tobacco cloth from the previous day before and let a different group than had set it up the day before, set it up here.. but when they started setting it up…. i said.. hold on a second..it doesn’t vibe as well, as the gold voile but you guys decide, cause this will add time to our day….. I let them decide.. and luckily we had 3 seamstress in the group (I am not). I showed them how it was made and they very quickly made the 8 panels we were needing and pulled it off spectacularly! And they learned exactly how to make this setup in the process! Truly Hands on learning there!
When we are setting up for the Reception portfolio part, normally there is always a centerpiece of some sort. The flower balls we use are super fast, but we had a Houston florist that said let me do a dramatic centerpiece.. and sure enough it was a great over the top simple yet dramatic centerpiece. Again using fresh greenery and silk hydrangeas.
For the Ceremony setup, we used plum spandex chairs with a gold bling band and accent gold jewel and 40,000 plum mixed petals for the aisle
Then we flipped it over to a reception. We normally only do 1 centerpiece for the setup and then I use the magic of photoshop to make it look like a “real” reception.
We setup the glitz plum linen with a cake under the round chuppah.
Using the same jewels on the cake.
The centerpiece was a clear trumpet vase filled with different sizes of pearls, and shorter vases with pearls.. a glitz plum linen. Just stunning!
Day 3 went off great! And the students are always exhausted at the end of day 3 but they were asking about how I cleaned up and so they even stayed with my cleanup crew to watch the cleanup and storing process. I was just so impressed with all of the them! They all soaked up everything they could from the experience and I know they will all go far!!!! And its just so exciting for me to be, even if its small, but to be a part of their success! Its what breathes passion for what I do in me even more! And I’m just so excited for the next workshop coming up soon that I will get to be a part of a few more peoples lives, I love sharing and teaching what I know! There’s no other job in the world that gives me more fulfillment!
