Private Workshop Information:
Personal workshop: The cost is $2,500, cost of location venue you want to train at and any customized additional rentals if you are wanting to create a full portfolio setup. Venues here in Columbia TN can be anywhere from $250-$2,000 per day. Sometimes if the venue has an event that weekend and if we “give” what we learn to the locations client they sometimes will donate the location for training during the week. This is sometimes a toss up and not a guaranteed thing, but it is something that has been done in the past. It’s a 2 day workshop. 7 1/2 hours each day. We can customize it to exactly what you want to learn. If you own your own location and you want us to come to you, Additional travel fees are applied. Here are some ideas from past personal workshops that have been done.
(1) All the Draping Techniques: of all the draping I do, but not creating big portfolio setups. So your learning the products and techniques but not taking the entire time to finish each setup but just learning the techniques and using the draping hardware. This is a lot of learning in a very short time. This is not a portfolio setup so no pictures will be provided. Draping Certificate provided, Wholesale list of all the wholesalers I use that we do not advertise on the online wholesale list will also be provided. A small 8X8 Draping Sales Art Book and Digital Business Pricing Book is included with this type of workshop.
(2)Portfolio – Ceremony and Reception: We have some that want to create a portfolio ceremony and reception setup.
We setup an actual small ceremony on day 1, We have a plan and design that we work out and plan with you before arrival. Normally additional rentals are required to do this (chair linens, flowers, aisle runner. etc.. ) Anything that is not draping or draping hardware is considered additional for rentals.
Reception setup is done on day 2. Normally clients like to drape a ceiling, or do a unique wall draping, Included is any draping, hardware or You can add on the additional costs for specific linens and fresh flowers or painted backdrops, at my wholesale costs. We only setup 1 Reception “Guest Table” And I copy and paste the single guest table centerpiece to create a large reception picture. (This is what I do at group workshops normally, see the pictures below in where I did this technique) We then take professional pictures of the setups and then this is another “wedding” or “event”added to your portfolio.
Money Saving Hint: Something that will save you money here, If you own your location and we are coming to you, If you have us come on a Wednesday and Thursday and lets say you have a wedding at your location that weekend… We can help you setup and train you on those 2 days… We only setup 1 guest table.. but you can have your crew setup the rest of the tables for the event. We get an extra hotel night for 2 nights, Come to your actual event and take professional portfolio decoration pictures.. then we take down the products used. Now the only thing here is we bring a small amount of draping to be able to show you everything and be able to do it, if its a big wedding and they pay for the additional draping products we can help you do larger setups at a fraction of the cost if we are keeping the products after the event. But this is a way for the client to actually pay for the products and training and to get a really great porfolio setup. This is tricky and a little more complicated but normally it works out great for all 3 of us, the trainer, trainee and the actual client. They never need to know we helped you, so even if you dont know the first thing about draping, they wont know that and its a great setup to add to your portfolio. But I recommend before booking it with your client and letting them pay you, contact me first so we can make sure your charging correctly and that we are even available for your date. (3) Marketing and Photo Shoot I have a upcoming client who wanted a “makeover” day and makeup and a professional photo shoot of her head shots and crew shots at her location and then work on marketing material and setup a basic website/Facebook business page and teaching her her how to blog and update her own website. So we have booked a makeup artist and setup a photo shoot area and then day 2 is the web/marketing day. We bring our entire computer setup and as long as you have internet high speed access.. We can do a lot and train you in how to do it yourself. You must be a little technical savvy to be able to learn quickly and be able to “get it” in the time allotted. Both of these are very valuable in your presentation of your business!
(4) At Your Own Venue: We have some event professionals that own their own venue or have access to free venues in their own city. Sometimes they want to have it draped and professional pictures taken for advertising. or to just teach the draping techniques suited best for that location. Yes we can bring the products to you and teach it at your location. The cost is the same $2,500 plus travel costs and hotel for 3 nights. We arrive the day before we are to start teaching. If you like what we do and teach you at your location and you just want to buy the products we use. You are welcome to do that. We simply charge the wholesale costs to replace our products we used. But very convenient for you to keep the product we just taught! If you know for sure you want to purchase products, We can order and ship everything you need and then me and my husband fly out instead of driving. Sometimes this is less expensive than the driving w a trailer. Especially to West Coast areas or Alaska.. We are coming from Tennessee. So this is an option also when coming to your location. If your location is very tall sometimes a scissorlift will be required when doing ceiling work. This will also be an additional fee if needed.
The options for personal workshops are endless and very customized. You’ll find no other training company in the United States that does this!
How many are allowed to attend the personal workshop?: You may split the cost with 1 other designer or another business (but only 1 other business) BUT you CAN have you and your family or crew attend, up to 10 people from your business or family. This is especially helpful for the crew that you depend on to setup your products weekly. But this is a private workshop not a group workshop. If your doing just draping only, I recommend only those 2-4 that will be working on draping only attend.
You will also get a completion certificate in whatever you are being trained in and your business information be posted on our site if you want.
Money Saving Tip: You get to pick the dates, if it’s a Tuesday – Thursday and not a weekend date, we normally can get better deals on locations.
Book Your Training Dates: To book your dates, first contact us by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by texting (615) 967-1793 to see if the dates you are wanting are available. Then the cost is $500 down plus location fee, airline fees, and/or hotel fees. After we design the setup if you are wanting a full portfolio setup, sometimes those rental fees will be needed up front also. Then the remaining balance which is $2,000 for the remaining teaching fees plus travel fee if we are coming with the trailer is due 7 days before your training dates.

“I look forward to meeting you soon! Training is my passion, and it was something when I first started out,I would have given anything for someone to train me like I train my students. No one would share techniques or wholesale places or anything and the only other training school I could find, cost more than I was charging for events.. So it was very hard for me when I first started out. I would beg the local florists, please I’ll work for free just let me learn and they would not… and I had to learn everything I do, on my own. I would take a picture of it and if it didn’t look good in the picture, the next event I would do something different, until it looked good. THAT is my learning that I did. The Trial and Error school. After 15 years later I still own a draping company and love doing it, but when I first started I said if I ever learn this I want to share with other designers like me that no one would teach, I want to teach and share and do what others would not do for me. I say what I do now is easy, once you learn the technique and have the right products. I am sure I don’t always do it perfect, but I will openly and honestly share with you what I know. I love meeting new designers and I love teaching what I know, it is my passion! And I feel like I’m being a blessing and THAT is a good feeling!”
