The Cave – Wedding – Bowling Green, Kentucky
Lost River Cave – Bowling Green, Kentucky
This is my absolutely favorite location.. it feels like your in a fairy tale with the setting. The place is almost always booked a year to 2 in advance. I’ll show you some of the before pictures.. and then a few weddings we did there.
Its actually pretty far in the valley.. here is the opening to the cave.
As you walk into the cave you can see the ballroom area to the left.. with the river running in the middle
If you look to the right this is where we normally setup the catering .. photo booth area.. looking straight ahead you can see where the bridge goes across
In the back of the cave (unless they have fixed it yet) there is always this huge black tarpe because it drips water.. a lot.. you’ll see in our decor how we make it pretty.. but its something you need to be aware of that does not come down
You can see the beautiful valley and greenery in the back.. what I love most about this outside(ish) location.. it can be 100 degrees outside and in the cave its normally a nice 65-75 degrees.. Love that!
Ok let me show you the first wedding we did here.. We were one of the first to drape it and then we gave them our picture and they had so many requests they now offer drape (even though its not exactly the same as ours) but that is an option currently.
Cave Wedding and Reception (Mary)
The water at this area is really blue..
There is a huge bridge that the guests cross.. i did some lit vases on both sides of the bridge later on at a different wedding.. but you have to be careful with decor cause this is where the golf carts come bringing the guests from the cars down into the valley
3 Weddings in 1 Weeknd – Some more decor (Split the costs w the other brides!)
Another thing we did.. because after the above wedding the location started draping it that way.. we had a bride that came and said I want to do something different with the draping.. and it was a tad out of her budget but I threw out the idea maybe the other brides scheduled for that weekend might like to pitch it for the draping.. So we went out on a Thursday draped everything.. then these are the weddings..
Draping Angle from across the bridge.. we also had blue lighting shining in the water and on the ceiling..
The first bride (Friday Night Wedding) ordered an additional Gobo for her wedding. but that was it.. It kinda drives me crazy doing a wedding where the bride only gets folding chairs with no covers and linens that dont go down to the ground.. but the draping sure made it look a lot better!
They had brought some columns and arrangements for the aisle.. the colors where black and white and hot pink. we added some silk hot pink orchids to the aisle columns.. it was hard to see in the daylight.. but the gobo was changed to a P with hot pink swirl light behind and all the uplighting was changed to hot pink
The next day was Sunday – the 3rd wedding- our original bride.. this was the setup for the Ceremony
This was the reception setup for bride #3 — We used real orchids weighed down with a jewel (they will float if not weighed down) and we also added the light bases which are awesome. they are not LED lights they are battery operated and last around 8 hours.. they give the candlelight look and feel.. not the white blueish LED feel
Its a big location so drama looks great here! I think it can hold 300-400 guests so it can be designed for a smaller group or larger..
It truly is one of my favorite locations for a unique wedding!
